SMD (Surface Mounted Diode) strips use individual LED chips spaced along the strip, which can create visible hot spots. COB (Chip on Board) strips pack hundreds of tiny LEDs tightly together under a phosphor layer, producing a smooth, dot free light line. COB strips are ideal for applications where the strip is visible, such as under cabinet lighting or cove accents, while SMD strips work well behind diffusers or in concealed installations.

IP (Ingress Protection) ratings indicate how well a strip resists dust and water. IP20 strips have no water protection and are designed for dry indoor use. IP67 strips are coated in silicone and can withstand temporary submersion, making them suitable for outdoor and wet locations. IP68 strips are fully encased and rated for continuous submersion, commonly used in pools, fountains, and underwater features.

Color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K). Lower values produce warmer, more yellow light while higher values produce cooler, more blue white light. 2700K gives a warm, cozy ambiance similar to incandescent bulbs. 3000K is a neutral warm tone popular for residential and hospitality settings. 4000K provides a balanced neutral white ideal for offices and retail. 6000K delivers a bright daylight white often used in commercial and industrial spaces. CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) strips allow you to adjust anywhere within this range using a compatible controller.

Add up the total wattage of all LED strips connected to the supply. Each product listing shows the watts per meter, and our strips are 5 meters (16.4 feet) per roll. Multiply watts per meter by the total meters you plan to install, then add a 20% safety margin. For example, if you are running 10 meters of a 14w/m strip, you need 140w plus 20%, which is 168w. Choose the next available size up, in this case our 200w power supply.
